The Garinger Education Foundation was incorporated in February 2014 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization to provide resources to improve the educational environment at Garinger High School
The mission of the Garinger Education Foundation is to provide scholarship opportunities to graduating students and to enhance the educational program at Garinger High School by developing and supporting initiatives that improve the educational environment for students, teachers, administrators and parents.
Our foundation is the successor to a scholarship effort begun by the Class of 1963 during their 50th reunion. With their help the foundation awarded fifteen $2000 scholarships in May 2014 to Garinger graduates. Each of the scholarships was a memorial scholarship in the name of each of the 15 Garinger classmates lost in the Vietnam war. The foundation has also funded a Vietnam memorial on the Garinger campus to those lost classmates with a dedication date of August 8, 2014
The foundation hopes to continue the 15 memorial scholarships and expand them to four years at $2500 per year for each recipient. Our goal is to raise at least $150,000 per year to fund this effort.
At the present time our foundation does not have the financial resources to hire a professional fundraiser or to fund extensive teacher initiatives. For now we will manage our efforts with volunteers and will focus our efforts on scholarships so that essentially all donations will directly benefit students.
Because of our lack of major donors or industrial partners in the Garinger area, the foundation hopes to establish a broad base of alumni or other donors who are willing to consider annual gifts to help us achieve our goals. By working together and involving all the alumni classes, our hope is that combining even modest gifts will enable us to provide the support that can make a real difference for the students.
Garinger High School today is in many ways much different than it was when we attended.
